Dr. Sandra Onukwugha is an upstanding, gentle, and passionate General Dentist who takes pride in giving her patients the best possible care. Her interest and love for dentistry developed at a very young age following her first dental appointment as a child. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Onukwugha then went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (formerly UMDNJ). She completed her General Practice Residency at Hackensack University Medical Center thereafter.
In dental school, Dr. Onukwugha was inducted into the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic honor society, and received several awards, including the Dr. Uriel Gunthorpe award for her leadership and dedication to the advancement of dentistry. She was involved in several organizations, including the Student National Dental Association, where she served as Secretary, then President. Dr. Onukwugha provided insight and mentorship to first year dental students, and high school and college students through various programs, including Orientation Leadership, Decision to Dentistry and Gateway to Dentistry respectively. She’s passionate about giving back and has been actively involved in many community outreach events, including the Indian Health Service trip to Arizona, providing free dental care to Native Americans on a Navajo reservation.
Patients love her friendly demeanor, gentle touch, and excellent chairside manner. Dr. Onukwugha is highly competent in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, and is dedicated to continuing to provide current and quality dentistry for her patients through her constant participation in continuing education courses. She is Invisalign certified and an active member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside the office, she loves playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, reading, cooking, and traveling.
